TV, or No TV?

That is the question. I have noticed that many guests bring laptops and prefer to watch films that way, rather than using our DVD player. Modern televisions are so complicated with numerous buttons to push, different zappers to use, and three remotes, COUNT them, what with the DVD player, to negotiate. I have told Sven I think we should simply remove the televisions from Liberty Coin Suite and Seagull Cottage for the 2012 season. Last year we removed the Green Room TV and no one seemed to notice or care. What do you think? Should a bed & breakfast offer television in the second decade of the 21st century?

When I go away, I LOVE not having televisions in the room. Part of getting away is getting away from the outside world (I don't read the news, either), and I never, ever miss it. Even when there is a TV in the room, I never turn it on.

Do you have wireless available? I think most guests are more concerned with internet access than TV these days, especially in the summer when no one hangs out inside. On the other hand, if you already have the TVs there, why take them out? Undoubtedly someone will want to watch TV during the summer.

I agree! Wifi is more important than TV. Some B & Bs choose not to have TVs because they want guests to relax and reconnect away from technology. I think there's something to that.
When my family goes on vacation usually we want to take a break from technology- tv etc- and we prefer to spend time with each other- playing games, talking, eating etc...for me...if I came to visit and there was no tv, I would not notice....but then that is just me....I think the people who really are 'tv' prone would be those who would choose to stay in a high powered hotel

That's a tough one. Wifi for sure. TV ... I don't know for your location.

You have to have some technology today - WiFi - something. And if you have little kids coming they will want to watch TV kids channels - or their parents might like them to as they have a rest.

We do have wi fi.
I love a vacation from TV. In your beautiful place in Wellfleet guests need to be outside enjoying the scenery and breathing the ocean air!
In a hotel, I expect a TV, but don't think I would make the same assumption for a B&B. I agree with other commenters, though - wifi is a necessity!

I agree with the wifi, but also agree with the commenter, if you already have t.v. there, why take it out? Personally, I'm a news junkie and my husband likes to watch television to fall asleep, even when we're on vacation.

One of my biggest pet peeves about traveling is that my husband always turns the tv on. I hate having a tv in a hotel/B&B room. Can 'em, I say!
