Lots going on at the marina where Sven
and I chose to walk this afternoon. Guitar music carried across the full parking lot from Pearl, a gentle twanging from a live band that performed on the back deck. We saw people sitting on marina benches with picnics and others jogging, walking, biking, paddling, fishing, stowing gear after a fishing expedition, hosing down equipment.
We noticed new picnic tables at the end of the marina, behind the bandstand. Folks congregated at the old tables outside Mac's and, although it was almost 4 pm, the air smelled of french fries. Some beachcombers headed off towards Mayo Beach, while kids played on the buoy beside the pier. Teenagers dangled feet over the side, ice cream cones in hand. The pace was slow and relaxed. Everyone seemed definitely in vacation-mode and not especially upset that Wellfleet was having another non-beach day ...
