Summer guests always ask whether reservations are required at local restaurants. I always say yes to Wicked Oyster and Finely JPs. The other Wellfleet eateries, which we recommend, operate on a first come, first served basis. This week a guest wanted to go to Mac’s Shack but decided against it due to the line of people waiting outside. Success will do that to you.
Perhaps the shack will have to start taking reservations? There was a great article in the spring issue of Edible Cape Cod, featuring Mac, his brother Alex, and cousin Sam posed in front of their new white fence. The boat and shellfisherman on the roof have been attracting attention for years. The shellfisherman is supposed to be Joe Francis, who once owned the building, father to David of Lobster Hutt fame, and was created by local artist Paul Suggs whose work can be viewed here.
