What's Happening in Wellfleet?

By the second half of May, restaurants are opening left and right, and it seems as if suddenly there are activities every night. Unfortunately, May is also the innkeeper’s time for last-minute spring cleaning, touching up paint, planting the garden, renewing amenities … in other words, by evening, I’m so beat all I can think of is falling into bed. For those of you who are or will be around and want to plan your next few weeks, check out these fun choices:

Eco-Expo, 10 to 2 at the Transfer Station, Saturday, May 15. Come watch a composting demo, learn about green lawn care or Woo’s Worms, pick up a rain barrel, bring the kids for fun and games.

A free chamber music concert will be being presented by the Friends of the Wellfleet Libraries on Sunday, May 16, 3:00PM, at the Wellfleet Library. Great music, great ambiance. Check it out.

Sunday, May 23, join the walk to benefit Alzheimer's research, right here in Wellfleet.

The new season at WHAT starts Thursday May 27th with a play by Howard Zinn, Daughter of Venus. Get your season tickets now!

May 29th, help support kids who care about the environment at a Cape Cool fund-raiser yard sale at the transfer station from 8 to 4. Contributions/help are welcome.

May 30th is the annual Birdhouse Sale, to benefit Preservation Hall, 11 to 1. Make some birds happy; provide accommodation in homes created with recycled materials.

Finally, don’t miss the 6th annual concert by world-renowned master cellist Bernard Greenhouse, to benefit Outer Cape Health, Saturday May 29th, in the Congregational Church. Reserve your tickets today as they go FAST!! (greenhouse.ochs@gmail.com).
