ReadyMom, biting into a Black Oxford is like biting into a new Granny Smith apple, ie. firmer flesh than a McKintosh, only the Black Oxford has a sweet aftertaste.Alexandra Grabbehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16290396567494638238noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20448505.post-73770282145434060962009-11-05T21:49:45.686-05:002009-11-05T21:49:45.686-05:00I'm partial to Gravenstein apples - but they d...I'm partial to Gravenstein apples - but they don't ship well, they bruise easily, and are therefore hard to find outside of their growing regions. Lucky that you have such a great produce location nearby!krishttp://krisbordessa.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20448505.post-4109754278900466562009-11-05T17:42:31.326-05:002009-11-05T17:42:31.326-05:00I had no idea there were so many different kinds o...I had no idea there were so many different kinds of apples. I'm partial to a nice, crisp tart apple. My favorite is a medium-sized Empire apple. If you had to describe the Black Oxford compared with other apples, what would you say--a bit like a McKintosh? Fascinating.ReadyMomhttp://readymom.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20448505.post-25369999038193692222009-11-05T15:45:51.776-05:002009-11-05T15:45:51.776-05:00We have wonderful apples here on the West Coast as...We have wonderful apples here on the West Coast as well -- many from Oregon (where I live) and Washington State. I just ate a Pink Lady (don't know if I ever had those when I lived in Massachusetts) that was crunchy and delicious. Apples are one of the many reasons that I love this time of year. And I agree with Alisa, your photos are lovely, Alexandra!Jennifer Margulishttp://mothering.com/jennifermargulis/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20448505.post-4551643380341834062009-11-05T15:11:39.891-05:002009-11-05T15:11:39.891-05:00Beautiful photos to complement the beautiful marke...Beautiful photos to complement the beautiful market. I dry them into the best winter snacks you can get.
